Graniph a few years back during my time living in Tokyo, and have been in love with their bright, colorful graphic tees ever since. They also have a very impressive roster of artists, which is definitely worth a look.

The Japanese company has launched their great annual contest open to designers all over the globe — the graniph Design Award 2012. Aiming to support the development of artists and designers worldwide, this is a perfect contest to enter if you’re an established or aspiring designer (and wanna be big in Japan!)

graniph‘s design award is back for 2012 – a global t-shirt design competition with a strong history of introducing up-and-coming and established design talent to Japan and the world. With total past entries of over 30,000, we’re looking forward to digging out a whole lot more this year.

Of late most of them are caught in this mad, hilarious “Pyar Ki Pungi” track from ‘Agent Vinod’. For Saif Ali Khan, who is generally known for his smart, dashing style and attitude, it came as quite a surprise for many to see him doing some crazy moves and grooving with so much chilled-out enthusiasm as Majnu Vinod. And all thanks to composer Pritam Chakraborty, because now we came to know about his and also Saif’s fun and naughty side with this latest “Pungi” song..

According to our sources, the “Pungi” song wasn’t initially scheduled to be a part of the film, but CCTV cameras on set caught Saif pulling of some insane dance moves. It was then decided to incorporate the song in the film as a mad number. A few moments of fun turned into a song which is now trending all over.

Gone are the days when any average song would grab the attention of its listeners. What they need today is something out of the ordinary. And trust the ever-so-versatile Pritam to churn out the best in all genres of music. The contemporary, foot tapping music of ‘Agent Vinod’ exemplifies why he is one of the most loved music composers today.
As the name suggests, the song is humorous and extremely catchy. “One of the basic reasons of liking this number is the fact that it is a fun filled song. The song plays in the background during one of the scenes in Agent Vinod. Amitabh Bhattacharya came up with this fantastic hook ‘Pyar ki pungi’ which I am sure could be the next popular phrase among the youngsters,” says Pritam.

“Pungi is a musical instrument which is predominantly audible in the song. Hence, the name. The shehnai piece was also extensively used which was later layered with trumpet. It’s a 6/8 song. Instead of making the musical treatment Indian, I kept it more darabuka, conga and claps oriented. So all in all, it is an out an out entertaining and crazy song,” continues Pritam.
