MUMBAI: Equities ended lackluster session on a positive note in the absence of cues from global peers. Realty oil&gas and FMCG moved higher while IT and banks bucked the trend.
Bombay Stock Exchange’s Sensex ended at 17092.16, up 39.62 points or 0.23 per cent. The index touched a high of 17183.51 and low of 17027.92.
National Stock Exchange’s Nifty closed at 5115.95, up 14.45 points or 0.28 per cent. The index touched a high of 5137.40 and low of 5092.05.
BSE Midcap Index was down 0.11 per cent and BSE Smallcap Index moved 0.26 per cent lower.
Amongst the sectoral indices BSE Realty Index was up 0.94 per cent and BSE Oil&gas Index moved 0.88 per cent higher. BSE IT Index slipped 0.43 per cent and BSE Bankex declined 0.40 per cent.
Biggest Sensex gainers comprised Hero Honda (3.06%), ACC (2.42%), Jaiprakash Associates (1.71%), Reliance Industries (1.65%) and HDFC (1.48%).
Losers comprised Maruti Suzuki (-1.53%), NTPC (-1.45%), ICICI Bank (-1.27%), Bharti Airtel (-1.08%) and ONGC (-0.86%).
Market breadth on BSE was negative with 1652 declines against 1179 advances.
