
Prime Minister Manmohan Singh on Saturday said that the worst is over for food inflation and the prices will stablise soon. Addressing the chief ministers, the Prime Minister also said that prices of food items have also gone up globally during the period in which India saw price rise.
Manmohan Singh also reiterated on the need for improvement in the public distribution system.
In a bid to contain rising prices in the country, Prime Minister Manmohan Singh called upon the state governments to cooperate with the Centre.
Singh said that states have to utilise their quota of foodgrains to the maximum. States should expedite processing of imported sugar, he added.
